What eyebrow threading actually is

Threading is an ancient hair-removal technique that uses a doubled, twisted cotton thread rolled across the skin to catch and lift each hair. Because it removes hair in clean rows rather than one at a time, a full brow shape takes only a few minutes. There is no hot wax, no harsh chemicals and no pulling at the skin itself, which is why threading suits sensitive or reactive skin so well. The result is a crisp, defined edge and a more precise arch than tweezing or waxing can give you.

Wax grips the top layer of skin as well as the hair, and on the delicate area around the brow that can mean redness, lifting and the odd burn. Threading only touches the hair, so most clients walk out with little more than a slight flush that settles within the hour. What happens in your appointment

We start by looking at your natural brow, your face shape and how much definition you actually want — bold and structured, or soft and fluffy. We map the start, arch and tail to your features, then thread away anything outside that line. The whole thing takes around ten to fifteen minutes. If you book a tint or henna at the same time we will do that straight after, so you leave with a finished brow rather than a half-done one.

How long threading lasts and how to look after it

Most people get two to four weeks out of a thread before regrowth needs tidying. The more consistently you come in, the finer and slower the regrowth tends to become over time, because repeated threading weakens the follicle. Straight after, avoid touching the area with grubby hands, skip heavy makeup over the brow for the rest of the day, and if you are prone to redness a little aloe or a cool compress helps. That is genuinely all the aftercare threading needs.

Threading for men, teens and first-timers

Plenty of our threading clients are men wanting a tidy, natural line between the brows rather than a sculpted arch, and we shape accordingly. Teenagers getting their brows done for the first time are welcome too — we keep it gentle and conservative so nothing looks over-plucked. If you have never been threaded before, tell your therapist; the sensation is a quick scratchy tickle rather than a sting, and it is over fast.
